An emotional week became a memorable one for Matthew Colegate, after a planned fishing trip produced some of the best fishing he has ever experienced.
“After attending the funeral of my grandfather, who I was very close to, I headed down to Anglers Paradise in Devon for a three-day trip," he told us.
“It couldn’t have come at a better time, as it was my grandfather who ignited my passion for angling, and I wanted to do him proud.
“Fishing the Specimen Tench and Orfe Lake, I had the best session of my life, landing 27 golden and blue tench between 3lb and 4lb 8oz over the three days.
“I caught the fish on float tactics, targeting the margins with corn and caster hookbaits.
“On the last morning, I caught eight fish on prawns. It was a session I’ll always remember.”
