Big roach are a fish that the majority of anglers would love in their albums. For whatever reason, specimen redfins are a species that anglers seem to have a shared affection for, and Daz Clarke is no exception.
A recent campaign for the species saw him enjoy some exceptional fishing, culminating in the capture of his dream fish.
“I recently targeted roach on a Midlands stillwater where I managed this PB of 2lb 15oz 8dr, backed up by others of 2lb 5oz and 2lb 2oz during the afternoon and evening session.
“Targeting an area around 60 yards out, I fished helicopter rigs using components from the Gardner range – 45g maggot feeders, with two or three maggots on the hook and a short hooklink of 5lb fluorocarbon.
“This roach is not only a PB, but it rounded off a dream winter campaign with the species, when in seven day-long sessions, spread over the last few months, I’ve caught a dozen roach over the 2lb mark.”
