Lancashire angler Paul Kennedy believes his late father, who recently died of Covid, was ‘looking down on him’ when he landed this 4lb 3oz perch after many years of trying for a specimen.
After the funeral, Paul needed to ‘clear his mind’ so he ventured down to his local River Ribble for a few hours’ fishing.
“I needed a bit of head space so I decided to fling a few lures around,” he said.
“After a slow start, I connected with a solid fish that gave powerful headshakes, and I had a feeling it was a big perch.
"When this one finally surfaced I had a feeling Dad was looking down on me, and that he approved of the catch.”
