FENLAND rivers offer quality rudd fishing, as Suffolk angler Keith Mutton found out on the first day of the season.

Keith, a falconer by trade, fished with his son Alan and friend Colin. Shortly after starting, he hooked what he believed to be a small bream on floatfished corn.

But when he saw the fish roll on the surface, Keith realised he was into this giant rudd weighing 3lb 2oz.

That was just the start of things, and Keith, his son and friend enjoyed one of the best day’s fishing they’d ever had, landing seven rudd over 2lb.
