ONE OF Britain’s best-known comedians, Sandi Toksvig, has held a stand-up comedy gig while standing in the middle of Buckinghamshire’s River Chess in order to raise awareness of environmental issues facing our precious chalkstreams.
Sandi, who hosts popular BBC2 gameshow QI, was joined by fellow comedians Mark Watson, Eshaan Akbar and Helen Arney for the event, which was created by company Affinity Water.
Sandi, who is passionate about river conservation, said:
“Our waterways have a special place in my heart, and I’m proud to be helping to raise awareness of the simple steps we can take to save these beautiful areas. What better way to do it than through entertainment and humour? Let’s all ‘stand up for our streams’ and play a part in the protection of these national treasures.”
