WITH night-time temperatures on the wane, many crucian anglers turn their attentions elsewhere. But Essex rod Mark Fox decided on an autumnal trip to Johnsons Lake in Surrey to target the species and was rewarded with this 4lb 1oz PB.
Arriving for an overnighter, he was faced with a flat-calm lake and no signs of fish movement, but despite fearing a blank he kept casting his Method feeder loaded with 4mm pellets and a 6mm Band’um hookbait.
Just before daylight he was rewarded for his efforts, and after a short but spirited fight he slid the net under his first-ever 4lb ‘cruey’.
