ONE of the star names in the England Feeder Team has been dropped for this year’s World Champs, and there’s been a shock change of venue due to the war in Ukraine.

Ranked No1 in the world, the star-studded side includes Mick Vials, Steve Ringer, Lee Kerry, Rob Wootton, Adam Wakelin and Will Freeman. But Phil Ringer, a mainstay of the side for many years, misses out.

“It was an incredibly difficult decision to leave Phil out,” said manager Dean Barlow. “He’s been integral to our success over a number of years, and we’re hugely grateful for his contribution. The door is never closed for an angler of his quality.”

The event was due to take place in Ukraine between October 8-9, but has been moved to a lake on the Belgian/Dutch border called Maasplas Geistingen.

“I’ve asked the guys to be more active in their fishing so we can arrive in Belgium at the top of our game,” Dean added.
