Quick sessions are often overlooked by anglers, either because they don't believe it will be worth their while or due to the fact they don't like to rush around when on the bank within limited time constraints. However, anglers up and down the country may be missing out on golden opportunities every year, and some really special captures too, by not going down to their local venue for an hour or less.
While on the way home from work, Greg Byatt was debating whether or not to throw a lure about on the tidal Trent. With nothing to lose, he decided to grab the rod he leaves in his van for such occasions and headed down to a familiar spot that has produced fish for him in the past.
It turned out to be the right decision, as after only a few casts a zander he has been dreaming of catching slammed into his lure, a fish he would not have banked if he chose to go home. Further proving if you think it is worth a try, then get on the bank no matter how much time you have.
IF YOU WANT TO CATCH A ZANDER ON A LURE, THIS EXPERT ARTICLE IS FULL OF GREAT TIPS!

"With my lure gear in the van, I decided to park up and walk to an out-of-the-way spot on the Tidal Trent where I’ve had success before," he told us.
"I set myself a goal of catching a double figure zander on a lure back in June, but with the season nearing its end, I feared it would have to wait."
"I reached the spot and cast the lure just to get a feel for how the river was moving and on the very next cast, I felt the unmistakable whack of a zander hitting my lure," he recalled.
"Unfortunately, I didn’t connect with it, but the fish had almost pulled my shad off the hook, testament to how hard it hit it!"
"I took a moment to reset and cast back into the same area. Within a few more throws, I hooked a fish, and I was certain it was the same one I had just missed."
"After a tense couple of minutes of fighting, I kept praying it wasn’t another pike, but as it finally surfaced, I was elated to see a huge zander staring back at me!"
"I’m absolutely over the moon with this lure-caught PB, and I can now rest easy during the closed season with my goal achieved."
"This is by far the fattest zander I’ve ever caught at any size, an unbelievably shaped 78cm fish weighing in at 13lb 1oz," Greg concluded.
