Eric Robinson banked a 37lb pike from an undisclosed stillwater after setting himself the challenge at the start of the season to bank his first ‘thirty’.
Eric, a pleasure angler from Stockton-on-Tees, said: “I went out for a few hours after my dinner and found the venue empty. I fished two rods, both on legered joey mackerel, and after just 15 minutes the left-hander was away. I lifted the rod and hit into what was clearly a very big fish.”
Just how big only became apparent when Eric slipped the predator over the landing net cord and hoisted it on to the scales.
“The needle whizzed past the 30lb mark and settled spot on 37lb! Everything had come together, and I’m so grateful that this happened in my angling life,” he said.
