CHUB will often feed in the worst of weather. Hampshire angler Adam Bassimeh can vouch for that after a trip to the upper reaches of the River Thames, where he managed this 7lb 10oz fish in 40mph winds and heavy rain.

With a big drop in air pressure forecast, Adam felt he’d be in with the chance of a fish or two, and after finding a sheltered area of the river he hadn’t fished before he first landed a three-pounder, followed by a ‘six’.

Guessing it was likely that he was on a shoal, he kept the loosefeed going in, hoping to trigger the larger fish to feed.

An hour later, that’s exactly what happened, when the upper seven-pounder finally picked up his 16mm homemade boilie, fished over hemp and krill groundbait.
