Big stripey from a tiny venue

Big stripey from a tiny venue

HUGE perch seem to turn up in the most unlikely of places these days, as Matt Peacock discovered when he landed this personal best 4lb 8oz fish from a tiny 10-swim crucian stillwater.

He had already managed a couple of low ‘twos’ on previous sessions, but suspected the venue had more to offer. So, with a few hours free after work, Matt popped out on the off-chance and fed a mixture of groundbait and chopped worm into a swim he fancied. His lobworm hookbait was presented on a float-leger set-up, which allowed him to place his bait right under a nearside bush while still retaining the sensitivity of a float for bite detection. He managed just the one bite in the session – but what a fish it turned out to be!
