BARBEL angler Paul Vizard couldn't have asked for a much better second catfish fishing trip – banking this 97lb 15oz monster!

The huge fish was caught during a 48-hour session at Parr Fishery in Essex.

“It was a challenging start, but the trip ended in style," Paul said.

“With cold winds, frosty nights and bright sunny days, conditions were poor.

“Perseverance paid off, though, when I had a take on two 20mm Robin Red pellets. When I picked up the rod, I thought I’d hooked bottom, but then it decided to take off!

“My strong tackle was tested to the limits for about 40 minutes, but I was delighted when this beast finally slipped into the 60ins net!”
