"Barbel on the float are different gravy!" - Alfie Naylor

“Static bait fishing has its place, but catching barbel on the float is different gravy and I find it much more rewarding.

“I fed heavily with 4mm and 8mm glugged pellets, introducing a good handful every 30 seconds to get the fish competing, and on my first trot down I landed a 14lb 8oz fish. The next day, I returned and landed this 15-pounder!

“I use strong but simple tackle – 15lb braided mainline, and a 6g alloy-stemmed stick float shotted positively with a 5g olivette.”
