AFTER blanking for most of the day on the Hampshire Avon, local angler Phil White changed his hookbait and duly snared this 7lb 11oz chub.
Phil had begun his session fishing with a maggot feeder, but with no signs of any bites after a number of hours, he switched to his favourite Klips boilies.
Shortly afterwards he received a few taps on the quivertip before it pulled right round.
He struck into a hard-fighting fish that he suspected at first might be a small barbel, before being greeted by the sight of a big chub on the surface. He wasted no time in netting his prize.
It sets a new PB for Phil and is a fish that he’s had his eye on since late last season, when another angler caught it at 7lb 14oz.
