Bait manufacturer is closing its doors after 30 years

After more than 30 years, one of the most widely used and well-known bait companies, Nashbait, will cease manufacturing at the end of August 2025.

Nashbait was among the first to offer commercially available boilies, and their baits have caught carp of all sizes both in the UK and abroad, including countless personal bests. Many anglers still fondly recall the original Monster Squid and Scopex Squid range, hailed as some of the all-time great carp catchers.

Despite recently overhauling their factory, launching a new range of particles, and refreshing their boilies with updated base mixes, Nashbait has unfortunately become unprofitable. Despite the team’s best efforts to keep the business running, external pressures such as Brexit, rising ingredient costs, and increased shipping fees have all taken their toll.

The company has always been committed to producing the highest-quality bait, using the finest ingredients they could source, and they’ve remained unwilling to compromise on quality, believing that doing so would ultimately impact both bait performance and angler results.

It wasn't just carp that liked the bait

On a post to Instagram, Alan Blair had this to say:

"Nashbait over the years has brought so much to joy to anglers, there have been so many special captures, records broken, competitions won and PB's smashed on the bait we have produced."

"It all began with two very special people, Gary Bayes and Kevin Nash, who right until the bitter end, had the best intentions at heart for Nashbait."

"They did it all with the best integrity, to bring anglers the best bait they could produce, but sadly now, that is coming to a close."

"We were always proud that Nashbait brought premium quality, and we imported the best quality ingredients we could, but with Brexit and a lot of other red-tape beyond of our control, it just isn't profitable anymore."

"We could have made two decisions, cut out our loyal retailers and sell direct or reduce the quality of the bait, we weren't prepared to do either."

"While I say this with a massive amount of heartache and disappointment, we are also really proud of what we have achieved with Nashbait the last three decades."

"I want to personally thank everyone, for the bottom of my heart, who has used and helped make Nashbait historical within the world of carp fishing."
