THE popularity of coaching sessions continues to soar, with many clubs claiming they’re struggling to meet the huge rise in demand since lockdown.

The forward-thinking Wellingborough and District Nene AC is one organisation that’s been leading the way, hosting more than 100 sessions since March.

Over 2,000 people have taken advantage of the club’s proactive approach, from juniors and care workers to individuals who had been in trouble with the police, and the Midlands-based outfit revealed it has sessions booked in until Christmas.

Among the coaches are Pat Byrne and Bryan Dray, who run the club’s Angler Development Team.

“Since lockdown we’ve been flat out,” said Bryan.

“Even when it’s freezing cold, they keep on coming!”
