A REMARKABLE group of anglers have reached the staggering milestone of raising half-a-million pounds for cancer charities, and they show no signs of stopping.

Anglers Against Cancer was set up in 2014 and is run by Ronnie and Jo Buss and their team of volunteers, all keen anglers who aim to not only raise money for various cancer charities, but also awareness for early symptoms of the disease.

After more than seven years of fundraising, they recently hit the grand total of £501,932, of which just over £50,000 has been donated to Bowel Cancer UK, with the rest going to Children with Cancer UK (CWCUK).

“Our next target is to reach the half-a-million-pounds milestone for CWCUK alone by raising another £50,000,” Ronnie told us. “I visited Great Ormond Street Hospital and it broke my heart. We want to do everything we can to help the kids.”

Throughout the year Ronnie and Jo run numerous auctions, raffles, and fishing events to raise the money, and this coming September will be running a fundraiser at Oxford’s hugely popular Linear Fisheries.
