Before starting his spring campaigns chasing big bream and tench, Adam Riches decided to spend a few sessions in search of rudd.
After finding a spot on a Midlands stillwater where there was far-bank cover and newly-formed lily pads that provide sanctuary for the fish, Adam fished short of the feature, hoping to pick the fish off as they patrolled the area.
Using light cage feeders and small pop-ups on heli rigs, he got off to a great start, landing a few big ‘twos’ on his first session.
After he returned for another go a few days later, a few tench muscled in on the early action and tested his light feeder kit before Adam received a stuttering take and lifted into what he knew was a large rudd.
It dwarfed the others he had landed and, at 3lb 5oz, sets a new PB.
