There are loads of different venues to fish in the UK, and whether you prefer fishing on rivers, lakes, commercials or big reservoirs, there is something for everyone. One of the more unique and challenging places to fish though, is one of the old quarries that are dotted around the country, many of which are abandoned, but still contain fish for anglers to catch.
Usually these waters are full of weird and wonderful species that have found their way into them by various means, and because they generally aren't managed, you never really know what is living in them and fishing doesn't get much more exciting than that.
After finding an abandoned site close to his home, Liam Bull and his friendobserved a few good fish when walking around and so decided to give the venue a go to see what they could catch.
IF YOU ARE NEW TO CARP FISHING, HERE IS A GREAT BEGINNERS GUIDE.

"We had been on a few sessions to the quarry without much success, but we were still keen to get up there for another go as a few of the fish we had seen were well worth the effort," Liam told us.
"While we had been fishing together, my friend had a trip booked to Baden Hall for the weekend, so rather than sit at home, I decided to get up to the quarry and fish anyway," he added.
"I am so glad I did as not long after setting up I banked what I think is the best fish in there, this awesome 24lb koi, it is one of the best looking fish I have ever caught!"
