This winter became one to remember for Finn Lewis when he slipped his net under this PB-equalling perch of 5lb 2oz recently.
Fishing at Grafham Water, he headed out in a biting wind and knew the day would be a challenging one. Starting near the damn wall but with no action forthcoming, he headed elsewhere and rang the changes with his lures.
Eventually, while fishing a dropshot in deep water, he felt sharp tap and connected with what he knew was either a trout or a very large perch. The fish ripped line from his reel as the boat, buffered by icy gusts, bounced around on the choppy reservoir.
After it made a few more lunges, Finn had it in the net. The specimen is his 31st perch over the 4lb mark, and his third-ever ‘five’!
