“A double had always eluded me”

“I’ve been targeting the tench at Oxford’s Linear Fisheries for many years, and while I’d caught plenty of ‘eights’ and a fair few nine-pounders, a double-figure fish had always eluded me.

“That was until a recent trip to the complex’s Manor Farm Lake, where I managed this new PB at 10lb 3oz. A small gravel spot surrounded by thick weed 45 yards out was the area I fancied the tench would be, and I introduced a bed of hemp, pellets and groundbait to get the fish rooting around. Over the top of this I cast inline maggot feeders, with maggot hookbaits.

“I was really pleased with the fish, and I had a friend on hand who did a great job with the pictures.”
