THE MAJORITY of big crucians reported these days are caught using bolt-rig feeder tactics, but Adam O’Donnell used a far more traditional tactic to catch this fine 4lb 4oz specimen.
After witnessing several good fish showing on a park lake, he decided on an early morning session the following day. At 4.30am, he introduced a few balls of groundbait and micros next to a bed of lilies, and within an hour he had fish fizzing on the spot.
He set up a pole float rig on his rod, and what followed was a phenomenal morning’s fishing, when Adam landed a number of crucians averaging 3lb on corn hookbaits, topped by the 4lb 4oz stunner.
