THIRTY-POUND pike are generally caught after countless hours on the bank, but a 30-minute trip was all it took for Norfolk angler Graham Fitzgerald to land this 33lb beast.

His friends were fishing the River Thurne, and although he had to work that day, Graham couldn’t stand the thought of them going without him, so he nipped out for half-an-hour.

“I pinched a roach off my mate, Sam, and seconds after casting out the float shot under and I was in,” he told us.

“I nearly had a heart attack when the fish broke surface! Then it tried to jump out of the net, but thankfully my friend Scottie manged to land it.

“At 33lb it’s a new PB for me, and fortunately I work for myself, so I didn’t have to go back!”
