TWENTY one years ago Dave Wilson, brother of the late, great John Wilson, set himself the seemingly impossible target of catching a 100-lb plus carp on float tackle – and last month he finally reached his long-held goal.

Fishing at Thailand’s Jurassic Mountain Resort, Dave used breadflake up-in-the-water under a float to tempt an immense 136lb Siamese carp, landing it after an intense 40-minute battle.

Most anglers target the venue’s various huge species using leger tackle and beefy gear, but Dave prefers fishing the float, and stuck with the tactic, determined to finally land one of the hard-fighting beasts on his method of choice.

Top marks for endurance Dave!
