YOUNG Archie Johnston showed skill and determination way beyond his years to bank a huge 7lb 2oz chub and a 12lb 10oz barbel in the same action-packed session.
Fishing the River Trent at Collingham, 10-year-old Archie and his dad, George, braved tough conditions, but the weather didn’t deter him.
Using boilie hookbaits, Archie had already landed chub to 6lb 1oz through the day, plus the big barbel, before the PB chub struck at night.

“He does everything himself and I’m so proud of him,” George told us.
“The chub was the biggest I’ve ever seen on the bank – a tremendous fish for any angler.”
Despite his age, Archie apparently already fishes like a hardened pro.
“In bitter winds and frosty nights, he’s always out – conditions some men would shy away from!” George added.
“He never gives up, and I couldn’t live with myself if I left him at home and went fishing alone.”
