A few pointers from experienced anglers helped 13-year-old Charlie Burrows land a new lake record at Linear Fisheries.
The Lincolnshire youngster caught the 37lb 6oz mirror during a weekend session on Brasenose Two at the Oxfordshire complex.
He was fishing next to Wychwood anglers Ben Francis and James Fox, who witnessed the magic moment.
Ben told Angling Times: “I’ve never met such an enthusiastic young angler and he was so keen to learn. James and I showed him a few rigs and gave him a few pointers on casting and setting his clutch correctly, as he was getting a fair few takes but losing the fish every time. Shortly after this he had another screaming take, which resulted in a new PB and a new B2 lake record, weighing in at 37lb 6oz.”
Charlie snared the fish on two pieces of pop-up corn fished on a KD rig at 50 yards.
