Targeting a lake that has only produced three crucians in two years isn’t a challenge for the feint hearted. But that’s exactly what Michael Tolan did and he was rewarded with this new personal best of 3lb 1oz.
The Lincolnshire-based rod focused his attentions on a brick pit in Market Rasen but after 13 blank sessions he was beginning to wonder if there were any crucians left in the lake.
He said: “I was about to throw the towel in when I caught a fish of 2lb 14oz followed by another of 2lb 9oz six sessions later.
“I then had to endure a further six biteless trips before I hooked the 3lb 1oz specimen on a piece of garlic flavoured meat.”
