Big grass carp while fly-fishing

The use of fly fishing tactics to target coarse species is growing in popularity and Furgus Kelly proved why when he won the battle with this impressive grass carp.

The fish measured a metre in length and was beaten with the help of a salmon rod when he visited a private stillwater in Essex.

Grass carp are notoriously fragile so Furgus opted against weighing the specimen, but he estimated that the fish, which fell to an Adams dry fly, would have topped the scales at around the 28lb-mark.
