A match angler has been banned from all Angling Trust-run competitions – including Fish O’Mania – for five years after ‘his aggressive, rude and potentially criminal' attitude towards staff.
The angler – who the Trust is refusing to name – is believed to have used abusive and threating language during telephone conversations with two members of the Competitions Department over issues surrounding the organisation of matches.
In a statement the Angling Trust said: “He has been refunded in full, but will not be eligible to fish in forthcoming competitions. His tickets will be passed on to reserves. He has been warned that any further harassment will result in us taking the matter up with the Police.
“Angling Trust staff are not employed to be the verbal or physical punch bags for angry members.”
