Massive pollack landed off North East mark

North East angler Ian McDonald couldn’t stop smiling after he landed an 11lb pollack during his latest session – one of the biggest examples of the species ever to be taken from the shore in the region.

By travelling light, the Ryton-based ace was able to delve into a number of spots for short periods during the stint and was rewarded for his perseverance when the specimen fell for his lure from a mark at Craster.

A nerve wracking ten minute battle followed and once the fish had been landed, Ian realised just how lucky he was to slip the net under it, with the hook being severely bent during the fight.
