The opening day of the season provided Lee Povey with this impressive 11lb 1oz barbel.
The Reading, Berks-based angler banked the fish during a session on the River Kennet, tempting it on a piece of hair-rigged luncheon meat.
“I baited up at 6.45am, cast out at 7am and had the fish at 8am! It was that straight-forward,” said Lee.
The fish was just one of several big barbel that were caught in the first few days of the season. To see more, see next week’s Angling Times, on sale Tuesday 28th June.
