A British angler had a huge stroke of luck when he caught a 100lb shark by hooking the eye of a second hook which was already in the fish’s mouth.
Chris Handley, 59, took the 100lb lemon shark whilst fishing off the coast of Florida during a recent holiday with friends.
It wasn’t until he looked closer that he realised his barb had gone through the eye of another hook left in the shark’s jaw.
“The shark took the bait and after around 20 minutes of fighting I got it to the side of the boat,” explained Chris.
“As it turned on to its side I just could not believe what I saw – my hook was in the eye of another hook from a previous catch.”
Both hooks were removed from the fish’s mouth before it was returned.
