Browning recruit three new sponsored match anglers

Zebco Sport Europe Ltd - the parent company of Browning - has announced that they are to sponsor three new match anglers.

Adam Richards, Peter Thomas and Simon Colclough have all just signed a three-year contract with the huge tackle company.

All three are classed as some of the best upcoming match anglers within the UK. They will play an integral part within the Browning product development and research. They will focus upon developing a range of products designed for UK commercial fishing, which will expand and improve the current range available.

Browning has labelled this sponsorship category as ‘The Academy’, where some of the best young anglers will be supported in developing their skills further. In return, the company will receive advice and direction on their product range, and capture vital data to ensure that they evolve as anglers evolve.

Adam Richards (age 20) from Billingham, Cleveland, is the reigning Kamasan Matchman of this year and by that the youngest ever to win the title. Even at this tender age, Adam boasts further achievements such as, Maver Pairs Individual Winner in 2008 and Fish’o Mania finalist this year 2009.

Peter Thomas of Hampshire is 24 and started competitive fishing at aged 10. He was a member of the Team England under 21 squad for 4 years during which time he won individual Silver and team Bronze medals. He has represented Browning overseas events and has fished comptiveley in 10 different countries! On the domestic scene, he won a Dynamite Whiteacre Festival when just aged 18 and has fished most major team events with the Browning Wickford squad. His best match weight has been 268lb. His fishing career was paused while he achieved a honours degree in Business Management but is now back on course.

Simon Colclough of Essex is 29 and has been a key member and top performer in the Browning Wickford Squad for 10 years. A regular match winner, Simon is a naturally gifted angler skilled in all methods and styles. In recent years he has finished in the top 10 in six Whiteacres festival and has qualified for the prestigious Parkdean Masters Final in 2003, 2007 and 2008. Simon is already involved in developing and testing Browning products specifically for the UK market ensuring the Browning design team is kept up-to-date with trends in UK commercial fishing methods.

European Marketing Manager Frerk Petersen commented; "Athough all 3 anglers are relatively young, they already have a vast amount of knowledge and experience in fishing styles and products. We have decided take a different route than our competitors by working with and developing young and progressive match anglers. A three year plan ensures that both the company and angler are committed over a longer period."
