Chew Valley 35lb pike ends trials

The capture of this 35lb 12oz personal best pike by Steve Davies was a fitting conclusion to the latest series of amazing pike fishing trials at Chew Valley Lake.
A mackerel tail floatfished in just 6ft of water did the business for the  51-year-old, who cast his rig from a boat in a shallow area of the vast reservoir that had already provided him with three 20lb-plus fish earlier in the day.
The February dates at the Somerset venue produced an incredible 34 pike over the 30lb mark, including two fish over 40lb.
