Mates Gavin Rotchell and Dale Glover cashed in on the recent good sport at Oxlease Lake to land a string of fish to 30lb 9oz.
It was Dale who landed the biggest of the 48-hour trip to the Oxfordshire day-ticket venue, while Gavin’s best went 27lb 1oz.
“After getting into an area of the lake, with the mild temperatures set fair, we quickly found out that the fish were off the bottom and were sitting up in the water,” said Dale.
“We adjusted our tactics to suit the session and it wasn’t long before my good friend Gavin was into a fish weighing 27lb 1oz. It was a great start to the session and the fish came along steadily after that. We caught mid-doubles day and night while spodding consistently over the top with a sloppy mix containing Xcel Baits VNF and KSC Spod and Zig Mix.
“The session was going well but got even better as the last take of the session resulted in a great fight from a fish that ended up pulling my scales round to 30lb 9oz. The mirror was my first 30-pounder on a zig so it made it a special fish for me.”
The pair used Fox Zig Aligners dipped in Xcel Baits VNF bait soak.
