Two personal bests in one trip

Paul Faint has beaten his bream and carp personal bests in one session.

After having a couple of days off work, the construction manager from Waltham Abbey set his sights on a local gravel pit. After finding a small patch of gravel at 40yds, he quickly introduced a bed of dead maggots, boilies, corn, wheat, pellets and casters.

It wasn’t long before he began to get line bites and a mirror carp weighing 22lb 8oz was first in his net.

A semi-bolt rig and a hair-rigged 10mm Dynamite Baits Source boilie tipped with a piece of plastic corn also proved the downfall to this 14lb 5oz personal best bream, which was backed up by other fish of 11lb 5oz, 11lb 3oz and 8lb 4oz, along with another carp at 13lb 3oz.
