Steve Hall banked his second fifty of the winter at The Avenue in the shape of this 54-pounder.
The big mirror, known as Black Scar, comes a month after the former match angler banked a 52lb 4oz common from the same Shropshire water. The mirror is the same fish we featured with Luke Edwards last week.
Avid-backed Midlands rod Steve told Angling Times: “The fish came at about 4.30pm on a day session, just as the light started to fade. I had seen fish in the area on previous visits and I went for a look around the night before and I put a little bit of bait in.
“It was a very slow take, pulling the bobbin up to the top but not actually taking any line. I hit into it and realised straight away there was a hefty plodder on the end. You know you’re always in with a chance of a big fish at The Avenue but I didn’t realise quite how big it was until I pulled the net away.”
The fish fell to a whittled-down pop-up fished over four spods of sweetcorn at 70 yards.
