A punctured barrow and changeable weather conspired against Carl Sharp before he slipped the net under this 29lb 8oz mirror.
The 30-year-old West Midlander travelled to Cambridgeshire’s Monks Pit but had to work for his fish.
“I had a bit of a nightmare as I arrived on Friday with winds battering the area I was heading for, only for it to be made worse with a puncture on my barrow wheel! I eventually got settled in but with no joy I decided on a move the next morning, only for the heavens to open while I was in the middle of the transfer. Once in the new swim the wind changed direction back into my face making it almost impossible to get the rods out.”
Waking at 6am on his final morning thinking his chance had gone, Carl received a surprise take and netted the mirror. Carl fished maggots soaked in Solar’s Marine 17.
