One of the UK's most spectacular carp banked

This surely has to rank as one of the most striking big fish in the country.

The 36lb 7oz koi carp known as The Dalmatian resides in the Main Lake at Essex’s Fryerning Fisheries.

Syndicate member Dave Whitting from nearby Colchester caught the fish during a four-day session shortly before Christmas.

The builder targeted a hard area at 80 yards and baited with Nash Bait’s Scopex Squid boilies. The fish picked up a matching hookbait presented on a rig tied with 20lb Korda N-Trap soft, a size 7 ACE hook and a 4oz Nash inline lead. Dave reached the spot with 12lb Daiwa Sensor mainline, a 12ft 3lb Nash Extreme Pursuit rod and a Daiwa Basia QD X reel.
