This is an image of one of the biggest wels catfish ever to be caught on a rod and line.
The proud captor is Sportex backed Italian Dino Ferrari who banked the gigantic specimen while fishing on the River Po in Northern Italy.
It was taken on a lure while boat fishing and tipped the scales at a staggering 280lb, measuring 2.67m in length. Dino is well known for his catfishing exploits having landed a whopping 260lb specimen from the same venue last year. The official IGFA record is 297lb 9oz, a cat landed by Hungarian angler Zsedely Attila on the River Po back in 2011. Last year, teenager Will Sutton caught the biggest ever UK catfish from Norfolk’s Oakwood Predator Lakes, weighing 122lb.
