In-form Karl Hall has racked up a number of catches this winter, including this 37lb 4oz Kent mirror.
The 29-year-old has been spreading his time between Snake Pit in Essex and Darenth Tip Lake this winter, and it was the latter that produced the big mirror, known as Top Arthur.
The Mad Baits and 30Plus-sponsored angler said: “When I arrived I was greeted by one of the other lads on the syndicate and was told that a lot of the fish where holding up in the Snags swim, but me being me I wanted to find my own group of fish as I knew that I could find them elsewhere on the lake.”
Having climbed trees and located fish in front of a swim called Bailiff’s, Karl watched their patrol routes and then set his traps.
“I knew I had to be stealthy as the fish where only 15 to 20 yards out. Once the rigs where lowered into place I trickled some bait over each rod, trying not to disturb them.
“It was not until the next morning that the rod went off and after a hard, heart-in-mouth battle he was mine! Happy days!”
Karl returned to the Tip Lake the following week and bagged a 28lb mirror from a snaggy margin before rounding off his recent run of good form with a scaly 22lb 4oz mirror from Snake Pit.
All the fish fell to Mad Baits Wicked Whites pop-ups on hinged stiff rigs made with 30Plus rig bits.
