17lb 1oz bream falls to charms of worm

Chris Creswell tempted this 17lb 1oz bream on the simplest of baits – a piece of worm.
The 27-year-old landed the huge slab during an overnight session on Vauxhall Angling Club’s Sharnbrook Gravel Pits.
Baiting up a clear spot at range with a small amount of 3mm krill pellets, the Bedfordshire angler cast a light lead rig with 10lb mainline and a size 10 hook baited with a section of dendrobaena over the top.
The take came in the early hours, not long after a line bite, and soon the specimen was being weighed on two sets of scales.
It broke the-big fish specialist’s previous best of 15lb 10oz, with a long-standing Vauxhall club record of 11lb 8oz from 2007 also obliterated in the process.
