Clothing boss Mark Munson found time for a six-hour evening session to bank this 43lb 4oz mirror.
The man behind the Navitas brand caught the fish, which has never broken the 40lb barrier before, from an Essex syndicate water.
He said: “It was just a quick six-hour evening session in a little area I have been trickling bait into. I watched a big fish in the area a few days before.
“I was fishing locked up close to marginal snags and the take was savage. It was a ‘hold on for dear life’ situation but I managed to turn it to open water and then the fight began properly.”
The simple solid-bag rig and a Shellfish Mulberry wafter from XL Baits did the trick.
Continuing his run of short-session success, Mark then took a trip to a friend’s syndicate venue and set a lake record with a surface-caught 30lb mirror.
He said: “I popped to a mate’s little syndicate and had the lake record off the top. It was only 30lb 11oz but it’s a new surface PB for me and it ended three hours of total frustration watching them chomping ever bait that wasn’t my one!”
