One of the biggest carp in the world has been banked by a Brit.
Scott Phillips snared The Scar Fish at Luke Moffatt’s Graviers fishery in France at 99lb, just shy of the 101lb 4oz world record set in Hungary two years ago.
West Midlander Scott told Angling Times: “At 10.30pm I received a screaming take on a rod that I had put on a new spot. Jumping straight into the boat I was soon in direct contact with the fish and after around 25 minutes of an unforgettable fight in the dark the fish finally gave a sign that it was ready to be netted.
“Peering into the landing net I could clearly see its trademark scar that round runs around its body.”
The fish fell to a Freshwater Shrimp boilie from Trent Baits presented on a fluorocarbon blowback rig.
