Heavy baiting with maggots produced the Blue Pool’s biggest resident at 39lb 6oz.
Manchester angler Mark Aldred travelled to the Berkshire venue and fed a margin spot for three days before landing the mirror.
He said: “I've been to the Blue Pool a couple times now and on this trip I hit the jackpot in the shape of the big one at 39lb 6oz.
“I had been feeding a margin spot for three days with roughly a gallon of maggots a day and tempted this one, along with seven other good twenties, on a bunch of red maggots on a clip.
“It smashed by PB and as you can imagine I was ecstatic.”
