Jim Watts was given a shock when he slipped his net under this estimated double figure bream while fly fishing at Rutland Water.
Heading to the Manton Bay area of the huge reservoir, the local rod was used a rig incorporating three flies to target the venue’s rainbow trout stocks.
A quiet start was soon forgotten when the unexpected slab fell for a Curley’s Buzzer and put up a fight that lasted almost 15-minutes.
Although the fish wasn’t weighed, Jim was left in no doubt that it beat his previous best.
Coarse fishing is not permitted but you can find more details on the game fishing opportunities by visiting www.rutlandwater.org.uk
