Alan Stagg has continued his run of form on a large southern gravel pit, and just days after landing a new personal best pike he helped himself to this 21lb 2oz specimen.
The Gardner Tackle media manager cast a sardine deadbait to a drop off at 20 yards range on a simple leger rig comprising a Drennan Esox 28lb wire trace and size 4 semi-barbless trebles with an Enterprise Tackle Snag Safe lead clip and 30lb Gardner Kinetic braid mainline.
He said: “I lost a good fish on Saturday morning when the hooks popped out after playing it for 10 minutes. I returned on Sunday as I had a feeling there was still a chance of another bite from the area and thankfully I was proved correct. The fish had incredible markings and was in great condition.”
