Fish For Bream In Devon's Carping Hotspot

Town Parks Fishery has always been renowned for its specimen carp fishing, attracting hundreds of local carp fishing fans who enjoy targeting the huge head of mid-doubles resident in the venue’s Specimen Lake.

That was until recently, when one angler decided to target the bream and was shocked when just a few hours fishing resulted in nearly 60lb of fish. Since then anglers have been following suit and sacking up with skimmers averaging around 1-2lb in nets to 50lb every session.

Pegs 1, 16, 9 and 10 have been producing the best fishing as the bream seem to be hugging the island where depths between 8 and 13ft can be found. The trick is to cast within a metre or so of the island after feeding a single ball of sweet ground bait containing corn, worm or dead maggot to that spot and you should connect with the fish. Several anglers have had their bait taken on the drop on the first cast and gone on to enjoy a fish a chuck.

Of course the lake is stuffed with carp from 10-25lb which feed all year round. Currently anglers are catching up to 5 fish in a session using sweet boilies such as Cell or the strawberry flavoured varieties from the early pegs where it is windier.
There is also a 2-acre Match Lake on site which has 21 pegs is heavily stocked with rudd, golden rudd, perch, carp, bream, tench, roach and chub up to 5lb and is more suited to the novice or club angler in search of plenty of bites.
