First UK thirty falls to purple pop-up

A tough Berkshire syndicate yielded Paul Codman’s first-ever UK thirty.

“I’ve suffered quite a few blanks but the last two days have been amazing,” said Paul on his return from the water.

Fishing purple Nash pop-ups and imitation tiger nuts, Paul banked this 34lb 2oz mirror along with two other carp of 26lb 8oz and 13lb and five tench to 7lb.

He said: “It was an absolutely amazing session proving again that effort, eventually, equals reward. This one will stay with me for a long time and I'll be grinning for a good while yet!”
