Fifty, forty and two thirties in 36 hours!

A fifty, a forty and two thirties gave Peter Hudd the session of a lifetime at Essex’s in-form Fryerning Fisheries.

The Billericay angler snared Gurm at 51lb, Chunk at 41lb 4oz, The Pretty One at 37lb and a 35lb mirror during a 36-hour session.

The self-employed landscaper told Angling Times: “I joined the lake to catch my first forty and was only talking about it the night before I had the fifty. It would have been nice to have a forty first, but one came along 12 hours later! It was definitely a red-letter session!”

The 28-year-old fished a clear spot at 138yrds and spodded out 5kg of Urban Baits’ Nutcracker boilies at the start of his session.

He said: “It’s a spot that not everyone can reach as it’s a tricky cast, and even then most people can only put single hookbaits out there. I don’t think the fish see much bait in the area very often.

“I got into the swim at about 1pm and had the 35-pounder at 5pm. The Gurm followed at 7.30pm and The Pretty One at about 4.30am the next day. The Chunk then followed at about 5pm.

“There aren’t many English fifties around so it’s not a session I’ll repeat very often!”
Peter’s rigs featured Taska Core Zero lead-free leaders, 4ins Korda IQ hooklinks, size 5 ACE hooks and Taska Line Aligners.
